Olympic medallist rides the Velodrome!

Most days of the week, we have current and former Olympic Champions and medallists ride the boards. Last week, a new record was set with the oldest ever Olympic medallist doing laps of the track.

Double Olympic bronze medallist from London 1948, Tommy Godwin was here as part of the BBC One Show preparation for the build up to the 2012 London Olympics. Tommy is now 91 years old, and he got a big ovation when presenting the medals at the recent London Track World Cup, with a special gesture from Sir Chris Hoy on the podium, when he received his gold medal from Tommy.

Tommy met with current Olympic Champion Geraint Thomas, and they swapped stories of their preparation for their Games, and compared bikes. Tommy rode his 1948 BSA, which due to it's provenance is probably worth more than Geraint's current Pinarello.
