Event Legacy Award presented to British Cycling and NCC

BT Manchester Sports Awards celebrates local champions

Manchester showed its appreciation for the commitment and hard work of the city’s best sports clubs, coaches, athletes and volunteers at the BT Manchester Sports Awards, last Friday 21 October.

The awards are a celebration of the huge achievements of all Manchester's sports clubs and venues and is a chance to thank all the volunteers who give countless hours to their sports. It is also an opportunity to recognise and celebrate our partnerships with external organisations - who play an important role in putting on sports events and development programmes.

The awards were presented by some of the best Manchester based athletes, drawn from a wide range of sporting disciplines.

The Event Legacy Award was collected by Brian Cookson, President of BC, and Nicola O'Neill, Events Manager, NCC. There were also awards for Eastlands Velo members Lisa Daly and the late Alan Mason.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, executive member for culture and leisure, said "Manchester is internationally renowned for being a great sport city and that reputation simply would not exist without those people who put in hours of hard work at the grassroots level coaching others or training hard to become the next elite athletes.

"The BT Manchester Sports Awards give us the chance to celebrate the achievements and contribution made by local teams and individuals who thoroughly deserve our support."

The BT Manchester Sports Awards took place on Friday 21 October, in the iconic Grand Hall at Manchester Town Hall.
