Velodrome

The Velodrome at the National Cycling Centre

The Velodrome at the National Cycling Centre was Britain's first indoor Olympic cycling track, and since it opened in 1994, has become one of the World's finest and fastest board tracks. One lap is 250 metres, and the bankings are 42½ degrees. We're one of the busiest Velodromes in the world, and the track is in constant use thanks to the comprehensive programme of activities for all levels of ability.

Home to British Cycling, our track is in constant use seven days a week and thanks to the comprehensive programme of activities for all levels of ability, is the busiest in the world. From beginners to elite athletes, the track offers sessions to anyone seeking to experience this exciting sport. We have a fantastic Rider Development Pathway enabling you to take your participation in the sport as far as you want to. Whether it's fun, recreation or competition, we've got a framework of sessions to ensure you fulfill your ambition whatever it may be.

If you're new to track cycling, you need to be able to ride a two-wheeled bike unaided, with sufficient fitness to ride for an hour. All riders must be at least 12 years of age (9 for Junior or Family Intro sessions, Inclusive sessions or specific Community/Youth sessions).
