Reece Green has always been captivated by the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. So when advertisements for the National Track Championships appeared across Manchester in February 2024, he rallied four friends to join him at the National Cycling Centre. “The Championships were an incredible spectacle,” Reece said.
Living with cerebral palsy (classification C4), Reece didn’t just watch from the sidelines. In April 2024, he applied to take part in a British Cycling Para-Cycling Talent Development Session. By October, he was on the start line at the National Cycling Centre. His Wattbike stats stood out—what he needed next was time on the track and the confidence to match.
After the session, Reece joined the NCC’s Limitless Thursday night programme. Under the guidance of Limitless Coach Kathy England, Reece began working toward full track accreditation. With the support of Kathy and our experienced riders, his potential started to take flight.
For Reece, many of the sports he’d tried in the past came with barriers to entry. But with Limitless track cycling, that changed. Even though you ride as part of a group, the programme is tailored to each individual—creating a welcoming environment where everyone can progress at their own pace and feel truly included.
In March 2025, Reece successfully earned his accreditation, coached by Dave Heald and Marshall Thomas. “It was a fantastic day—tough but unforgettable,” he recalled.
Now a confident and regular rider, Reece has joined Marshall’s SQT sessions and recently invested in his own bike—a milestone that signals just how far he’s come.
His message to others considering track cycling?
“Just come and give it a go. My only regret is not starting sooner. The support from the coaches and the cycling community is incredible—it truly feels like a family.”
Reece’s next goal is to compete—and we’ll be with him all the way.
